Now we often are outside again, to work with the mini-monsters in the vegtable garden, the Bug picture book by Yuval Zommer comes just in time. He drew all the insects that we encounter in the garden and Barbara Taylor wrote the educational information, to go with it.
This is a cheerful picture book with lovely colourful prints, a good way for young children to learn about insects. It is good for a lot of reading hours and we have fun conversations with our little listeners. They want to look at the pictures time and again, it's really great fun!
We encounter many critters in our garden, ants are there in abundance, just like isopods and earwigs. The earwigs give us the jitters, but the little ones find all the insects fascinating. We also see a lot of bees, wasps, big bumblebees and flies. Caterpillars, butterflies and dragonflies. Beetles, bugs, lady bugs and spiders. The slugs, snails and earthworms are also well represented, in our kitchen Garden area. Plenty to see for our mini-monsters, with their magnifying jars. Another reason why we love this book!
3 radiant luminous stars for The Big Book of Bugs, from the listeners, little and larger!
