For Ketikoti, we are making a unique bracelet, a bracelet of shells and beads. The cowrie shells, in which snails live in the Indian Ocean, are unique. How special is that? We received these beautiful shells from a friend who had found them herself on a beach far away.
These shells fit very nicely into our collection, but they are not lost on a bracelet. We tried three types of glue, but hobby glue is not strong enough; the glue gun glues too roughly. Fortunately, we still had some Bison glue, and that works fine, but use it sparingly.
Here's how you make a cowrie bracelet
These wooden beads look pretty with the shells.
Tie a loose knot at the bottom of the lace.
String a bead onto the lace, up to the knot.
Rub some glue between the teeth af the shell.
Use a skewer to apply the glue finely, so you don't spill too much glue on the shells
Tie a firm little knot in each end of the lace.
Now let the bracelet dry thoroughly overnight.
Yes Beer, the time has come, you may show the bracelet!
Beer is so proud of his bracelet, he never wants to take it off again
We wish you all lots of fun at Ketikoti!
