Today is the start of the 2024 Children's Book Week and - we think - that doesn't need any promotion. As everyone already knows, reading is a favorite activity here at snazzie, so we like to write about everything that has to do with books!
The author of the 2024 Children's Book Week gift is Dutch author Pieter Koolwijk. A few months ago we wrote about his most beloved book Gozert, Gozert is the first part of a three-part series. That series that is now completed and is as a whole just as much in demand as the first book. You can read more about Gozert here.
This year's Children's Book Week gift is called Schatpakkers (Treasure Grabbers but regrettably not translated into English). It's a special story that we don't want to tell you too much about, it's much more fun if you read it yourself. What we can tell you is that it's a real Pieter Koolwijk book, funny, exciting and written with pace. A cool gift!
The Children's Book Week Picture Book, for the youngest 'readers' was written by Elle van Lieshout en Erik van Os and illustrated by Noëlle Smit, also no stranger to snazzie! The picture book is called De Vierling op de Vensterbank (The quadruplets on the windowsill). It's an original and funny story with lovely illustrations, as we've come to expect from Noëlle Smit.
From the Core Titles, we chose Atta, a beautiful book by Jolien Janzing and brilliantly illustrated by Linde Faas, about a girl who lives in prehistoric times. For children of 10-11 years old and up.
Furthermore, as always, there are many fun activities during Dutch Children's Book Week, at schools, in the libraries and in theater! These flyers were handed out at the little monsters at school. We will definitely join in!
Wishing you much fun during Dutch Children's Book Week!
