Summer evenings in Blijdorp:
Saturday 03, 10, 17 and 24 of August
On Saturday afternoon we are going to Blijdorp Zoo because the Zoomeravonden (Summer Evenings) are back and every Saturday in August the Zoo will be open until 21:00 A,M.! There are behind-the-scenes looks, at the sharks and the elephants. The little monsters are already looking forward to it!
After checking in with the tickest you get an extended, special map so you can easily find your way around the Zoo. At home a plan was already made, fist we ga to see the sharks. ;)) The mini-monsters lead the way to the Oceanium!
Behind the scenes at the fish tank you will hear from an animal caretaker what it is like in the shark pool. You see the pool from above, which is very different! And all the way into the depths you can see the sharks swimming through the tunnel of the Oceanium.
Our mini-monsters love it! What is also fun, you can ask as many questions as you want! The Blijdorp caretaker knows all about sharks and he answers all the questionsis very patiently. So the kids make the most of it ;))
Then we walk past more of the monsters' favorites, the reptiles. We can also visit the newborn Okapi-girl Makimzie, but we will do that next time because it is also busy there!
We head to the Asian elephants, there is also a little one to be seen there. But that is a bit of a disappointment for the little monsters, there is a long line of people waiting to take a look at the Hay Shed behind the elephant enclosure. We decide to try again later.
But...the weather is lovely and the atmosphere is great, everyone is having a good time! There is also a fun treasure hunt in the zoo with all the big Playmobil figures and you can also win a prize. So even if everything doesn't go according to plan, you won't get bored here, there is so much to see and do!
We go and see the Lemure's, there is also a little baby to be seen and they are sitting comfortably in their new enclosure. These are such beautiful little monkeys with their long, striped tails. And they jump happily back and forth together in the sunshine. So cute!
Outside are lots of places ou can eat and drink and there is live music. You can have French Fries at De Lepelaar and all the way on the other side of the Zoo (in front of the Rivierahal) you can enjoy Pinsa's, Poké bowls and Bubble tea. Do you prefer Turkish Pizza, Kebab en soda's? That's also possible, in the Poort van Azië (The Gate of Asia). But ... there are also Dutch poffertjes and waffles. So first we'll go and and eat and then we'll try the elephants again.
Unfortunately, the elephants' hay sluice didn't work out, we're going home, it's already way past bedtime for the little monsters. We dive into the Sea of Zoovenirs where we find little baby axelotls, so cute, we'll take them home. Zoomeravond in Blijdorp Zoo was lots of fun!
