We are making a fun spring craft with the monsters, the life of a frog. The life of a frog is very special, because that life starts with an egg. Not an ordinary egg, like the egg of a chicken. A transparent round of spawn with a black dot in it and then all in a clump.
Sometimes you see frogspawn (that's what the frog's eggs are really called) floating in a ditch, a fun sight. When such an egg hatches, a tiny tadpole comes out, with a very long tail. But when the legs start to grow and the tail disappears, you see a real little frog.
This is how you make the circle of a frog's life
Start by painting a circular ditch
Paint the 2 bottom area's green, the grassy side of the ditch.
Paint the 2 area's on top blue, that is the ditch's water.
Allow the time for the paint to dry thoroughly.
While the paint is drying you can start working with clay
Knead the clay until smooth.
Roll balls and shape a tail on one.
Roll another tadpole and shape it's legs.
Flatten the froglet a little by pressing it
Shape from a ball a bigger frog's body.
Roll 4 long frog legs between your hands.
Bend the legs in shape and press the frog's body on top.
Set the clay aside for a few days so it can dry properly.
While the clay is drying, turn it over every now and then for a few hours so that the clay can dry on the inside as well
Paint the eggs white with a black dot.
Paint the tadpole a pretty frog green.
Paint the small and the big frog last.
Let the paint dry completely and decide if you want to varnish the clay, so the paint will last longer, and let the varnish dry
Write the progress of a frog's life around the plate.
Stick the clay figuren inand around the 'ditch'.
Now we're going to search the ditches near by to see if we can see frogspawn in real life, we'll take pictures for you, if it works out!
