Ik ben Krik, Krik ben ik

Hanna Kraan was a remarkable Dutch (Rotterdam) author of children's books. When Hanna was only twelve, she already knew she wanted to write books when she grew up. We're now reading a collectio of 38 of her fantastic garden stories in one beautiful book : "I Am Krik, Krik I Am" to our little monsters. Our monsters love these stories! Combined with the colourful, delightful illustrations by Dutch illustrator Mies van Hout, together they make this book a wonderful treasure!

The stories are about Krik, the cheerful Squirrel, Melle, the vain Blackbird, and Domper, the grumpy Toad. They're cheerful, funny, and educational, as well. Krik and Melle make and sing funny songs together, which our monsters also love! Toad - Of course! - doesn't join in! He has two signs on his "house," one that says "No visitors before 12 noon" and another that says "No visitors after 12 noon." The monsters think Toad is hilarious!

Throughout the seasons, the animals experience all sorts of little adventures in the garden where they live, together with the Keizer family. There's sometimes some misunderstanding on both sides, but still everyone lives happily together. It's cozy, they have lots of fun together, and we enjoy the cheerful, funny stories. A book to adore!
