Shopping list
200g self-raising flour
200g fine sugar
200g softened butter
4 free-range organic eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons full fat milk
3 ripe pears
3 tablespoons sliced almonds
icing sugar, to taste

We buy our fresh fruit locally, at Rechtstreex, they sell many organic products. We have delicious organic Red Comice pears, which come from Lindegaard. The recipe is from the BBC, for a very tasty Italian cake. Torta di Pere is super easy to make, what more could we want? Nothing really, because the cake already has everything, fresh fruit; sliced almonds; powdered sugar and optional whipped cream. Maybe just a cup of coffee to go with it? ;))

How to make this Torata di Pere - Cake with Pear & Almonds, from Italy

Preheat the oven to 180°C and take a spring form of 20cm Ø

Clamp baking paper in the form.

Grease the spring form.

Peel and slice the pears.

Mix all ingredients marked with a dot.

Mix all ingredients until they turn into a smooth batter.

Place the pear slices neatly on top.

Bake the cake in 55 - 60 minutes golden

Do not forget to sprinkle the flaked almonds on top of the cake! ><

Allow the cake to cool for 30 minutes in the form.

Let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Meanwhile beat the cream.

Serve the cream on the side and make coffee!

Optional sprinkle the cake with icing sugar.
