As promised, today we are making 2 small gnome stools, red with white polka dots. We are making the stools in the same way as the chairs from last time, but simpler. We mainly sew with the blanket stitch, but when we sew the caps onto the mushrooms, we attach them with tiny stitches, as invisibly as possible.
How you make two mushroom stools
How you make two mushroom stools
Cut 1 roll into two halves, of approximately the same size.
Start with the half rolls, measure them on white felt.
Draw a line onto the felt using a pencil and ruler.
Cut off the two strips of felt as neatly as possible.
Pin the strip of felt around the half roll.
Tie on the embroidery yarn tightly.
Sew the felt using the blanket stitch.
Cut out a red and a slightly smaller white circle.
Pin the circles together and thread the needle.
Tie on firmly again and sew around with the blanket stitch.
Leave an opening for stuffing.
Sew the opening closed and sew on using the same thread.
Sew the toadstool cap onto the stem and stick the needle through the cap.
Make white dots using a hole punch and sew them with 1 stitch onto the cap.
Tie the thread off neatly but firmly.
Now your little stool is ready, we make another one.
Arrange your gnome furniture cozily together, in a nice spot and then just hope that a house gnome comes to live with you!
