Making a funny Uncle Sam bookmark for the Fourth requires putting in a bit of work! But luckily for you, we have drawn an extensive pattern so that your Uncle Sam can turn out just as beautiful and funny as those our monsters made.
It isn't a craft for the youngest snazzy crafters; so much cutting and pasting is too much and too difficult for them. But our slightly older mini-monsters make these bookmarks for the little ones, and they are super beautiful!
Here is how you make an Uncle Sam Bookmark
Trace all pattern parts on coloured cardboard.
Cut out all the parts of the pattern neatly.
Also cut out a long strip of white cardstock.
This will become the base of the bookmark.
Fold the strip sharply in half.
Roughly puzzle Uncle Sam on it.
Start sticking on when it's clear.
Only start glueing when you know precisely where all the loose parts have to go
First glue on the doll, for now without the hat but glue white stripes onto his pants
How to make the hat
You decorate the hat first.
Cut and glue on white stripes.
Cut off the stripes to size.
Stick the stripes onto the hat.
Stick on the band, the rim and the star.
The hat looks good on Uncle Sam!
Stick on his bow, hair and goatee.
Stick Uncle Sam's hat on his head and draw his face on.
Stick the wobbly eyes on the face and Uncle Sam is ready to celebrate!
We wish everyone celebrating this holiday a very happy Fourth of July!
