Read along? is another AVI starter book to practice reading independently with our little monsters. It doesn't really have a story, but lots short words and also short sentences. We've borrowed books from this series from the library before, and it's worked out well. The young monsters are flying through these books now, and we can already try one level higher.
The books in the Kluitman series Lezen is leuk (Reading is Fun) are written by Anne Blokker and illustrated by Alex de Wolf. The relatable, funny situations combined with the cheerful illustrations make the books appealing to starting readers. Because the words and sentences aren't too difficult to read, the little monsters feel encouraged. They love to show us how beautiful and quickly ( :)) ) they can read aloud.
