What do you need?
saved candle stubs
tea light wicks
3 organic eggs
a coloured plate
some grass and twigs
It is spring and for Earth Day we are making a cozy table light, complete with some greenery and flowers. This craft is very easy to make. Perhaps you also saved the stubs from burnt-out beeswax candles, to recycle or you can chop a new candle into small pieces. Just make sure to sift out the wick pieces after melting. Eggs you probably have at hand too, just eat something tasty with eggs in it today, and recycle the shells. ;))
Here is how to make a spring light
Chop the candle stubs in pieces.
Melt the stubs over boiling hot water.
Tap an egg on the top side and empty it.
Rinse the empty shell under the tap.
Break little pieces from the edge.
Place the egg shell in an egg cup.
Place the wick in the eggshell.
Have an adult pour the melted, hot candle wax carefully into the eggshells
Allow the beeswax or the candle wax to set.
Arrange some grass or leaves and flowery twigs around the eggs.
As dusk falls, we light the candles, just for coziness
