During the summer—in periods when there is little rain—birds cannot find drinking water very easily. We know this, so in the summer we always put out a small saucer with pebbles or marbles in it, which we fill with clean water every day.

But did you know that bees have the same problem in the summer? That is why we are making a fun craft for the garden that the bees will really enjoy. We are making clay flowers from which they can drink nice, clean water.

How to make bee watering stations
Knead the air drying clay until it is soft.
Roll out the clay to a thickness of app. 1 cm.
Cut flowers out of the clay with a cookie cutter.
Press the flower gently out of the cookie cutter.
Bend the petals softly upwards.
Roll a small ball between your hands.
Press holes in the heart of the flower.
Knead another piece of clay until it is soft and supple
oll it into thick stems with a pointy end.
Set the flowers and stems aside and let them dry overnight.
Stick the flowers together with half cocktail sticks.
Pull the flowers apart again and paint them.
Allow the paint to dry a while.
Paint the other side of the flowers and stems.
Let the flowers dry a day and overnight.
Glue the flowers together and varnish them.
Once the varnish is dry you find the flowers a nice spot in the garden.
Now all you have to do is fill the flowers with a little water.

The bees will be happy with it!
