Today we are making small baby dolls that older children can make all by themselves. You can give the babies faces or - as is often the case in Waldorf crafts - leave the faces off. You will need some leftover felt and wooden beads, a bit of stuffing and needle and thread. The dolls are fun to make and they are ready in no time!
How to make these baby dolls
Print the pattern and cut out both parts
Pin the bodies onto the felt.
Neatly cut them out twice.
Pin the bodies together.
Insert the thread into the needle.
Embroider the body all around closed using the blanket stitch, leave the top of the body open to fill
Fill up the body using sheeps wool stuffing, leaving the top still open..
Stick the thread from the inside out on the chest.
Stick the needle in - a little lower - from the outside in.
Now you see a cross.
Embroider an X on top of it..
Paint the beads or leave them.
Allow the beads to dry a minute.
When the beads have dried completely - which goes quikly with watercolour - you sew them firmly onto the bodies, with embroidery yarn
Sew the head on, tie off and pass the needle through to the arm.
Sew on a hand, tie off and stick the needle through to the other arm.
Now all our dolls have a head and two hands.
So now we sew the hats and then the dolls are finished.
Pin the pattern onto felt, cut it out and blanket stitch the hat together.
Glue the hat onto your doll's head and now it's all done!
Have fun with your doll!
