We make a small sea turtle from felt with a ring on it so that it can be attached to your school bag or to whatever you want :) We make the shield green with a dark gray pattern on it. At the top, the head, tail and legs are also dark gray, but at the bottom our turtle is light gray. Just because we were out of dark gray ;)) You can make the turtle in any color you like so use your imagination and have fun!
How to make a sea turtle
Download and print our pattern, then cut out all the parts.
Pin the pattern on the felt.
Cut out all the parts.
Sew the patches on the shield.
Sew the head, paws and tail together.
We sew all the parts together with tiny basting stitches, then everybody can join in.
Leave on the top of all the parts of the turtle an opening, to fill.
Fill all the parts except for the shield.
Pin head, paws and tail between shield and belly.
Close the turtle all around, leave an opening to fill.
Leave the part between the hind legs open to fill, then later on we sew on the loop in the same place
Don't tie off but leave needle and thread hanging on, fill.
When filled you pin the loop in the gap underneath the tail.
Close the gap firmly by continuing in the same way.
Sew with 3 stitches two black eyes on the head.
Slide the keyring on the loop.
Your sea turtle is ready!
