What do you need?
the printed patterns, in PDF
a pencil
pins
scissors
scraps of velvet, in various colors
sewing needle and thread
optional: tiny beads, sequins etc
a piece of thin cardboard
scraps of wool felt, in matching colors
woolen stuffing
Every now and then we tidy up the boxes with fabric scraps, and while doing so, we came across left over pieces of velvet.  We found blue with silver glitters from a princess dress, red from Sinterklaas his coat, black from a Halloween cloak..

One of our little monsters had seen a fun mushroom craft online that required velvet, so we quickly dug out the scraps and ended up with 5 colors, from which black was immediately ruled out. We could start right away!

The pattern is in PDF format, but for those without a printer:
A velvet circle with a diameter of 12.5 cm, a felt circle of 7.5 cm, a circle of thin cardboard, 7.5 cm, and a felt rectangle of 6.5 x 10 cm.
We measured glasses, cups and bowls to trace nice round circles :))

How to make a velvet mushroom
Print the pattern and cut it out.
Pin the pattern on the fabric.
Cut the circle out of the fabric.
Cut out the other pattern pieces too.
First thread through the large circle.
Pull the thread slightly.
Stuff the mushroom cap with wool.
Press the card stock circle into the cap, pull tight and tie off.
Pin the 2 parts of the felt mushroom stem together.
Stuff the bottom part of the stem with wool.
Sew the stem closed with small overhand stitches.
Pin the top part of the stem onto the cap.
Sew it all around onto the mushroom cap.
Trace the bottom of the stem onto  felt and cut it out.
Pin the circle to the bottom and sew it all around.
Now your mushroom is done!
Of course, all the little monsters want such a beautiful, soft mushroom :))) so we're making a few more, so much fun!
