Our library has a large collection of learning-how-to-read books, and because we like to keep the reading of the little monsters up to speed during the long summer holidays, we like to also choose such library books with monsters.
The book min gaat naar zee (min goes to sea) immediately caught the eye of the little monsters, as we've already read some fun self-reading books by Dutch author Lida Dijkstra. This one is also written by her, but for children who have been learningto read for a while now.
The cheerful, colourful illustrations are made by illustrator Madeleine van der Raad. The kids love the many fun under the sea details! We've made a lot of progress with this book; the monsters now read short sentences instead of single words. Plus, it's more of a story, which they really enjoy.
