As promised, today we are baking mummies for Halloween, our sugar eyes are standing within reach! We also have delicious BelleBio apples and raisins, so we will start quickly. First we only bake 4 mummies, we use up the leftover puff pastry from another baking, then we can already have a taste :))
How to make Halloween mummies
First you make the filling
Soak the raisins for 10 minutes in hot water and drain them.
Peel the apples and remove the cores.
Grate the apples and place them in a bowl.
Stir the caster sugar and Ceylon cinnamon until combined.
Sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon mixture over the grated apples.
Fold the raisins into the grated apple mixture.
How to make the mummies
Fold the puff pastry in half and then open it up again
Cut the right side into strips until you reach the half line mark.
Poke holes in the left half of the puff pastry.
Place the apple filling on the left side.
Press the top and bottom of the mummie firmly closed.
Preheat the oven to 200°C and place waxed paper on the baking tray
Fold the loose strips over and press them closed in the back.
Sprinkle the remaining sugar mix over the mummies.
Leave the mummies on the baking tray to let them cool completely.
Stick on the sugar eyes with a tiny drop of honey.
The mummies smell really good, the 31st we bake many more! >< >< ><
Happy Halloween to you all!
