Because autumn is coming we read Okke, Nootje and Doppejan, an Autumn adventure of three small forest children. A beautiful picture book from 1939, from the Swedish children's book author / illustrator Elsa Beskow. At the anthroposophical school the books of Elsa Beskow are often read to the children.
In her books you find the elements that play a major role in the antroposofical education. Such as the wisdom of nature, the rhythm of the seasons and our connection with the earth, our fellow human beings and the animals.
If Antroposofy may not be your cup of tea, the books are still beautiful and lovely to read to your children. A small observation: the characters get easily cross, (which we don't like very much). Don't forget, the book was written in 1939, so we we apply the omission principle, where it seems better to us ;)
Three bright shining stars for Woody, Hazel and Little Pip, from the little listeners and the readers!
