Top 10 picture Book of The National Dutch Reading Days, Petra was already published in Italy In 2016. It was the first picture book by children's books author/ illustrator Marianna Coppo. In 2019 the book was translated into Dutch and in 2020 into English. It's a cute, sweet, philosophical picture book.
The story is quite special, Petra thinks she is a rock, but then it turns out that she actually is an pebble. Or no, she is an egg. Oh no, no egg, she is an island. Or wait, also not, she thinks she is more of an elephant. :)) To us, whatever she may be, Petra is just amazing!
The illustrations are cute and the colours are sweet. Petra looks at you so cheerfully, even though it turns out that she is not who she thought she was. You can see she doesn't give a damn. Whatever she turns out to be, it's sure to be something amazing, Petra knows that for sure!
We like it a lot that in a simple way the mini-monsters are told that with a little imagination you may be whoever or whatever you want, but above all you're you!.
