Later Piet Hein sailed on his own ship in search of spices and then he came up with a plan to better regulate shipping to those faraway places. But his name became most famous for his conquest of the Spanish Silver Fleet.
Author Peter Smit does not elaborate on everything and anything, it is a small thin book so the history is concise. But even though he writes the story concisely, it is factually correct, because this is a nicely written non-fiction book for young children.
The story together with the sleek, modern illustrations by Ton Boon - which fit wonderfully well with the old story - make it an attractive book to read aloud. Our mini-monsters find it a very exciting book.
