Today we are reading from Rood met witte stippen to the little monsters, a fun booklet about autumn. The books by Carry Slee and Dagmar Stam are typically Dutch, very recognizable and fun for kindergartners.
The children in the book - Iris and Michiel - experience small adventures. They are playing outside and the ball is rolling between the bushes. But what is do they see, dangling in that bush? A big, fat spider! Mum, can you grab the ball for us?
The sweet grey/white illustrations are a pleasure to look at, nostalgic (on the front cover Michiel is standing with a homemade pipe in his mouth :)) ) and sweet. The book shows the small world of preschoolers very well. Searching for autumn leaves and crafting at school, playing at grandma and grandpa's, the lantern procession with Martinmas, it all comes along in this book, wonderful!
3 stars shine for Red with White Dots, from our preschoolers and their readers!
