The first picture book by American author Karen Chinn is a beautiful story about how a little boy learns that giving is better than receiving. Sam gets a lot of red envelopes (Leisees) with lucky money on Chinese New Year.

The beautiful watercolor illustrations were created by Taiwanese Ying-Hwa Hu together with her husband Cornelius Van Wright, a native of New York. They work together as a team but also separately. Together they have illustrated many wonderful multi-cultural picture books that are often used in schools in the US to teach children about diversity early on.
