We read Sinterklaas and the Robbers and it is a wonderfully fun book that was written in 1979 already. Both the story by Harriet Laurey (1924-2004) and the illustrations by Babs van Wely (1924-2007) are absolutely wonderful. The book has also been awarded (Wow!) as the best children's book and if that doesn't say anything... then we don't know what does!
The story is funny and exciting but above all wise. Our good old Sinterklaas teaches his young friend Carlito that you can achieve a lot with kindness and good will. Sinterklaas is three hundred and something years old and by living for such a long time you can learn a lot!
This book is only available second-hand and never translaten into English. The price of 7.00 guilders dates from when the book was purchased at the time it was just printed. (back then the price was still written in the front of the book, in pencil).
