Our Top 10 Sinterklaas books are not in order of how beautiful the book is or how often we read it. We think they are all very beautiful and read them all often (aloud) in November and early December. The books are in chronological order, because we buy a new book every year. It is the beginning of our new collection, the older ones had too many Zwarte Pieten, they are gone. The newest book is therefore the first and the oldest book, Dikkie Dik, is number 10 (top right), in our Top 10.

The Sinterklaas Book of 2015 was dropped and almost all the other ones too, until 2007. We made an exception for Charlotte Dematons book because it is so special and one of the most beautiful Sinterklaas books ever! The Piets were to the mini-monsters (and to us) not offensive at all.
Not that the other books were offensive to us but you have to draw a line somewhere. Especially when the discussion is getting so heated that lots of people felt hurt and even young children become negatively affected. So we did but obviously it is OUR line, everybody has to decide where to draw it for themselves.

A little note for our readers with English as their 1st language!
Unfortunately, because Sinterklaas is a traditional Dutch celebration, none of these books have been translated into English. Hopefully it won't be a big disadvantage with the picture books.
