400g fresh tagliatelle
150g parmesan
500g beef mince + beef mince spices
½ teaspoon thyme
2 spring onions
1 small free range egg
4 tablespoons olive oil to fry
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
pinch dried chilli flakes
2 cans of tomatoes of 400 gram
fresh basil leaves
A simple Italian pasta can be really delicious, this tagliatelle with meatballs and tomato sauce from the well known Brits The Hairy Bikers (minimally adjusted) is a very good example. The kids love it and quite honestly, we do too!
This simple tagliatelle you make with meatballs in tomato sauce
Bring a large pan water to the boil
Knead thyme, onions, spices and egg into the mince.
Roll it into balls then flatten them slightly using a fork.
Fry the mine beef balls all around in the olive oil.
Fry the balls brown then simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Fry onion, garlic, chilli flakes 1 minute.
Add the tomatoes and basil.
Add sea salt and ground pepper.
Different from the Biker gentlemen we now place the meatballs in the sauce to warm them through
This way the sauce can thicken slightly.
Grate the Parmesan cheese.
Cook the fresh pasta in 4 minutes al dente.
Spoon sauce with meatballs on the pasta then sprinkle with cheese.
Serve the pasta with fresh bread, extra grated cheese and a green salad,
