Every year on July 4th, more hot dogs are sold and eaten in America than the year before. Why is that? A hot dog is the national dish on July 4th, because then itt is Independence Day in the USA. We do mini's a great favor with these hot dogs, though our vegetarian mini-monsters obviously don't eat them.

Naturally, we don't make our hot dogs with a soggy bun! We wrap the sausage in a crust of crisp puff pastry, with plenty of melted cheese on top. And while we're at it, we make the 2nd equally National dish of July 4th for our vegetarians: apple pie. For them, we don't put sausages in the puff pastry, but apples. No cheese on top, but cinnamon sugar. Problem solved!

Want to make your own hot dogs too? Here's how to do it.

Defrost the puff pastry.

Grate cheese to taste on it.

Place the hot dogs.

Roll up the pastry.

Preheat the oven to 200°C

Bake the hotdogs for 10 minutes.

Brush egg on the pastry.

Bake the hotdogs 5 minutes more.

Serve the hotdogs straight from the oven with the sauces on the side.
