Shopping list for 12 cookies
75 grams butter
75 grams caster sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
125 grams flour
1/2 free range egg, beaten
1 tablespoon honey
pink, red & black fondant icing
white sprinkles
pink cardboard plates, at AH
These sweet Valentine cookies are quick&easy to bake but to decorate them you need some patience! But never mind, they taste really good and they make such a great gift, for Mum, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa or maybe your BFF!
Put sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl.
Cut the soft butter into cubes.
Mix butter and sugar in small lumps.
Knead the dough by hand until it's smooth.
We use flour from the mill.
Sieve the flour onto the butter mix.
Mix it all together and add the egg.
Knead the dough smooth quickly, by hand again.
Wrap the dough in plastic and put it an hour in the fridge.
You need two seriated size cutters.
Take the dough from the fridge, roll it out to 1/2 cm thickness.
Preheat the oven to170°c.
Cut out heartshapes and place the cookies in the oven.
Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes golden, let them completely cool.
Cut small red & pink heart shapes out of fondant icing.
Cut the cookies again, they spread a little while baking.
Stick the fondant icing heart shapes on the cookies.
by spreading a tiny drop of honey on the back of the hearts.
Stick a little black heart and a stripe on each cookie.
Cut out tiny black hearts to stick on the wings.
Use white sprinkles as eyes, push them in the little head.
Place four Valentine cookies on a paper plate.
Wrap the cookies in transparent foil and stamp a card.
