150g butter
75g soft light brown sugar
150g dark chocolate
1 tablespoon golden syrup
3 free-range organic eggs
125g golden caster sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
150g plain flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
icing sugar, to taste
red and pink fondant icing
Who doesn't love brownies? They taste chocolatey, they are soft en goey in the middle and we sprinkle icing sugar on top. But today we're making them cute too, because it's almost Valentine's Day! We make hearts for the older monsters and cubes for the younger ones, but they are just as beautiful and delicious.
How to make Valentine Brownies
Butter a baking tin and line it with waxed paper.
Let the soft sugar, butter, syrup and chocolate melt on low heat.
Put caster sugar and eggs in the mixer, beat for 5 minutes.
Beat until the mixture looks pale and airy.
Remove the pan from the heat, stir and set aside.
Stir the baking powder into the plain flour.
Add the cocoa to the flour mixture.
Stir until combined.
Cover the flour.
Add the chocolate. mixture.
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 160°C Fan
Fold it all together.
Fill the baking tin.
Bake the brownie for 20-25 minutes.
Let cool in the baking tin.
Cut out hearts.
Or cut into squares.
Cut letters out of fondant icing.
Dust the brownies lightly with icing sugar
Press the letters on the brownies.
We sprinkle - just for fun - tiny hearts around.
