Master writer Paul Biegel has written the funniest stories about gnomes. He calls his gnomes "Little Dwarves," and all 101 of them live on the heath. Probably near Tuil, but no one knows for sure.

Dwarf number 101 is a special one; firstly, he is taller and bigger than the others, and he is very stubborn! The others sometimes tease him about it. But Virgil, that is the name of Dwarf 101, doesn't let it bother him. He thinks, "I’d like to see that for myself!"

He sets off for the human world (where no dwarf dares to venture!) in search of a mirror. Not because Virgil is never afraid, but because he loves adventure very, very much. And adventures he experiences, all alone in the human world!
This beautiful, thick book contains three stories about Virgil of Tuil, making it an omnibus. The lovely illustrations in this book were created by well known Dutch illustrator Mies van Hout. Because this is an older book, it is no longer available new.

You can still find this book used or you can borrow it from the library. The third option is an audio book, which is readily available for purchase, where the stories are beautifully read aloud to you by Job Schuring (in Dutch). Also very nice!

3 bright shining stars for Virgilius van Tuil (omnibus), from our little listeners and the readers!
