A favorite book here is Waarom je voetafdruk groter is dan je schoenmaat (Why Your Footprint Is Bigger Than Your Shoe Size). The book was written by Esther Walraven, an Assistant Professor of Health Psychology, together with Wilfried Ivens, who is an Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences. Two people who know what they are talking about and from whom the readers can learn something too.
Furthermore, the book is written in a fun and lighthearted style, which is important, because it is intended for young mini-monsters. The fun, cool illustrations by Iris Boter also help a lot with that. The little monsters really like them. All in all, a great book, full of facts and trivia, that makes environmental problems very clear, even for us.
The book is regularly taken off the shelf because (fortunately!) because a lot of attention is also paid to the environment and the problems in our world at school. The many fun facts remain enjoyable for children, and they will enjoy it for a while longer, as it is written for children aged 8 to 12 years old. (Sadly only in Dutch).
