Diwali is the five-day celebration of the Hindu festival of Lights, also known as Deepavali, Diwali, or Deevali. The word is derived from the Sanskrit divali, in which it means a row of lights.
This religious festival of lights originated in India. The Diwali festival symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil. To celebrate an abundance of lights - called diyas - are lit everywhere.
At Snazzie, we are very happy that everyone in the Netherlands is free to believe whatever they want. We don't argue about it because we respect one another. The festival of lights, Diwali, is also celebrated at school with our little monsters; there are classmates who celebrate it at home as well. Isn't that cool!
Their parents come to talk about the Buddhist festival and bring something tasty for the class to try out. Our little monsters love that! We also make all kinds of treats and crafts, and we love to read books to our monsters that that are part of these celebrations. Which we all put on snazzie, just for you. Isn't that fun?
Have fun with the Diwali celebration!
