Every year on July Fourth there is a big celebration in the United States. On this special day Independence Day is celebrated by  the American people. The celebrations are big, like everything is big in the USA. (almost) Everyone has a day off of work and school. There are wonderful parades and people go on family picnics or barbecues. And at night there are massive fireworks to admire.

Even though there's no Dutch celebration on July Fourth, our mini-monsters love to hear about the celebrations around the world, of which this is a special one. So we have tea and Star cookies, to join in a little.

How to make Patriotic Star Cookies
Make the dough from the recipe on PDF and let it chill for at least 1 hour
Let the dough get to room temperature for 10 minutes.
Roll out the dough evenly, to a thickness of 1 cm.
Cut out stars in 2 sizes, using star cookie cutters.
Place the stars on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper.
Preheat the oven to 175°C when the cookies have chilled
Place the cookies in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes.
Once the edges colour brown the cookies are done.
Allow the cookies to rest for 5-10 minutes on the baking tray
Let the cookies cool completely in a wire rack.
Generously dust the baking mat with icing sugar.
Roll the fondant thinly and cut out stars.
Stick the stars onto the cookies with a drop of water
Let the icing dry for a moment on a wire rack.
Now we can have a tiny party :)))
A happy Fourth of July to all who are celebrating today!
