Today is the day, we are really going! Loevestein castle is open again, so immediately we reserved a spot. Because you have to take due observance of the Corona rules of course, so there are time slots. You can download those rules in advance on snazzie already, as a PDF.
Our youngest mini-monster is alone, the bigger ones are on vacation for a week. He is happy because first we sail with the foot ferry and then you can already see Slot Loevestein. A magnificent sight it is! We do have a long walk to go but the weather is beautiful, it will be a wonderful day!

We are almost there, we're crossing the bridge already!

There we see the soldiers houses.

Over the drawbridge to the Castle.

At the entrance, each group receives a 'golden' key and a map. With the key you open the entrance to the castle. Puk's face is worth gold, he gets the key, he hangs it immediately around his neck! So cool, Puk opens all the doors for us.

This is the chest in which Hugo de Groot escaped.

Upstairs we see the Knight's Halls.

At this table the Earl and his knights ate.

When we have looked at everything very closely we go outside again, explore the surroundings of the castle

Back again over the drawbridge, past the powder tower.

The surroundings of the castle are also stunning.

Was there another escape attempt here recently?

Along the way we come across some old cannons, with the cannonballs still next to them!

After a walk around the castle we return to the ferry.

But we do take a souvenir home with us.

Such a lot we have learned today about knights and castles!
