On Valentine's Day you can make something for your sweetheart, but if you love your family a lot, a Valentine family tree might be a cute idea. It can also be an extended family tree, but only your nearest loved ones might fit in better. We did invest in it, we had mini photos printed and bought mini clothespins with hearts on them. If your piggy bank is empty, you can also cut pieces out of photos you already have and use paper clips with hearts stuck on.

How to make a Valentine's Family Tree

Give the flowerpot a nice colour.

Paint the saucer as well.

White paint does not cover in one coat.

Cover the dry paint with paint again.

Let the paint dry completly and then paint a third layer over it, a darker colour like red or hot pink might 'cover' better

The third layer will do for us.

The pot gets a third layer as well.

Allow the paint to dry completly!

While the paint is drying we cut little pink hearts out of felt

Stick hearts on the edge of the plant pot.

Stick them on all around.

Let the glue dry well.

Stick the branch in the pot, fill with gravel.

Keep the branch straight in the middle of the pot with one hand, scoop in the gravel using your other hand

Place the tree in a nice spot and get your pictures out.

Hang your pictures on the Valentine's tree with mini-pegs or paperclips.

Happy Valentine's Day!
