400g chocolate (dark – 70%)
200ml olive oil (mild)
150g blanched hazelnuts
100g  icing sugar, sifted

For Earth Day, we are making a favorite sandwich spread of the mini-monsters for them: chocolate-hazelnut spread. With all the ingredients being of good quality, we think it should be tasty. But we’ll see; the little monsters can be picky sometimes ;))

How to make your own chocolate spread with hazelnuts

Start with roasting the hazelnuts
Spread the nuts on a baking tray covered in waxed paper.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and roast the nuts for 6 minutes.
Let the nuts cool for a moment and then grind them.
Stir the nut grindings and grind them once more finely.
Place the chocolate on a saucepan with boiling hot water.

When the chocolate starts to melt, stir it well, until smooth and glossy.
Remove the chocolate from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Pour the chocolate into a clean bowl.
Add the sifted icing sugar gradually to the melted chocolate.
Stir the sugar firmly into the chocolate.
Then stir in the oil; this also requires vigorous stirring!
Finally, stir the ground hazelnuts into the chocolate mixture.
Pour it into a few tightly sealable jars.
Let the jars cool slightly first and then put them in the fridge.
Store the jars in the refrigerator once opened
Take the pot out of the refrigerator 10-15 minutes in advance.
Then the paste spreads more easily on your bread.
This homemade chocolate-nuts paste is tasty and healthy!

Wishing you a wonderful Earth Day!
