It's the Fourth of July!

How to make Fireworks

What do you need?
2 (or more) empty kitchen roll tubes
1 sheet of red paper and 1 sheet of white
Pencil & ruler
Scissors
2 paperclips
Craft glue or glue stick
Red paper strips
Mitre box & saw
Star punch
We’re making 4th of July rockets with the little monsters, but they’re actually quite tricky for them to put together! Attaching the cone-shaped tops, the stripes and the stars is still a bit too much for our preschoolers. The older monsters enjoy making rockets too, and they help the little ones. That’s really great!

Here’s how to make the rockets
Roll the empty rolls in red or white paper.
Stick the paper firmly on and fold any the excess inwards.
Don't use too much glue; it won't make your rocket look better.
First let the glue dry completely.
Draw long lines using a pencil and ruler.
Cut off the strips.
Glue the stripes onto the rolls.
Trace circles onto blue cardstock.
Cut out the circles neatly.
Make a cut to the center.
Glue the cut over the other.
Slide a paperclip on until the glue has dried
Stick the tops onto the rockets.
Punch out stars and stick them on.
The little monsters mak a blue rocket as well.
Stick the dowels into the rockets using a glue gun.
We place the rockets in the garden.
Happy Fourth!
