We borrowed the book Bethany and the Beast for Halloween, which we thought would be really funny, and it is. The five hundred and eleven year old Peregrinus Pincet takes Bethany from an orphanage, to feed her to a monster that's living in his attic. But Bethany is afraid of nothing and no one, so he's in for a frightful surprise! Bethany experiences the strangest adventures; this is a truly special book.
British author, screenwriter, and TV presenter Jack Meggitt-Phillips wrote a five-part series of hilarious, creepy, and fantastical book. Of which we are currently reading the first one to our own little monsters. Jack Meggitt-Phillips' writing style is often compared in the UK to that of the world-beloved British author Roald Dahl, and after reading the book, you'll understand why.
Swiss illustrator Isabelle Follath created the cool black-and-white illustrations, because Bethany is a really cool girl! Luckily, the book is filled with her fun illustrations, because they're really cool! But... there are also young monsters here who don't like the book, so read it for yourself and see what you think. We'd really like to know!
3 creepy stars for The Beast and the Bethany, from (most of) our young listners and their readers!
