The Chinese Nightingale is a wonderful picture book by the Belgian artist / illustrator Quentin Gréban. We don't need to tell you anything about the original story by Hans Christiaan Andersen. Children in Holland who do not like reading (or listening to a story) probably know this fairy tale too, probably by a visit to the Efteling. ;)
The style of Quentin Gréban's drawings to us is very appealing. His pictures are soft coloured but not childish, they are clean and fresh but also warm. The mini-monsters like the prints a lot too, so we will read this book many times to them!
Although many of Quentin Gréban's books have been translated into many languages, this fairy tale has unfortunately not been translated into English.
